HAMILTON TWP. — The two people who died on a head-on crash on an Atlantic County roadway have been identified by police.

Allison Salerno, 35, of Vineland, and Providence Colon, 48, of Pleasantville died in the accident reported on Millville Avenue at 3:42 p.m. Friday, Hamilton Township Police said Saturday.

Authorities said Salerno was driving a 2007 Toyota Corolla westbound on Millville Avenue, also known as County Road 552, crossed the centerline for an unknown reason and sideswiped a 1998 BMW M3 traveling eastbound.

According to police, Salerno’s Corolla continued in the eastbound lane and crashed head-on with a 2011 Kia Sorrento being driven by Colon.

Salerno was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. Colon was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s Atlantic City Campus, but later died as a result of her injuries. 

The driver of the BMW was not injured, police said.

Responding to the crash scene were the Township of Hamilton Rescue, Mizpah Volunteer Fire Company, Mays Landing Volunteer Fire Company, Laureldale Volunteer Fire Company, Milmay Volunteer Fire Company, Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Crash Unit, AtlantiCare Paramedics, and the New Jersey State Medical Examiner’s Office.   

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
